Day 4: Fighting for your marriage.
Society tells us that if something doesn’t work the way we wanted, to throw it away. This even applies to your marriage! If you don’t like your spouse, divorce him and find another McDreamy, McSteamy, McVet or whoever. Yes, I just went there. We need to fight. Fight for your marriage!
Ecclesiastes 4:12 “Tough one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”
Did you catch the 3 strands part? One for you, one for your spouse and one for Christ. Your overly opinionated best friend isn’t in there. Your parents aren’t in there. Your siblings, in-laws, etc aren’t in there. Fight for the sanctity of your marriage. In the age of sharing everything, fight for the privacy and intimacy of your marriage!
Ephesians 4:2-3 “Be completely humble and gentle; Be patient, bearing one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the spirit through the bond of peace.”
We all make mistakes. A marriage is built on two imperfect people who are perfect for each other. We need to be quick to forgive and quick to ask forgiveness! Fight for your marriage! Fight to be a better spouse.
Mark 10:9 “Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
Not only does this apply to extra-marital affairs but it also applies to us! Are we dooming our marriage? Are we secretly wishing it would fail so we could be free? The Lord wants good for us. He created marriage to make us Holy and to be more Christ-like.
Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, “Declares The Lord”, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
The Lord wants good for us! We need to want good for us. We need to want better for our marriage! PRAY sisters. Pray for clarity, wisdom, patience, and a better marriage union.
